Firewatch Orange County is a team of dedicated fire watchers who are here to make sure that you and your family stay safe. We’re here for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.

The Role of Firewatch in the Community

Firewatch is a critical part of the Orange County community. We are the first responders to any and all fires that occur within our jurisdiction. We also provide public education on fire safety, including presenting at local schools and conducting tours of our fire station. In addition, we participate in a variety of community events throughout the year. Our goal is to keep the community safe from harm and to promote a sense of safety and security.

The Firewatch Orange County

When it comes to protecting your home from wildfires, the Orange County Fire Watch is always on duty. This dedicated group of firefighters works tirelessly to keep our region safe from the dangers of flames, and they do it all with a smile.

The firewatch orange county was formed in response to the devastating wildfire season of 2017. That year, Southern California saw some of the worst wildfires in recent history. The Thomas Fire burned through nearly 282,000 acres of land, while the Creek Fire scorched more than 15,000 acres. These massive blazes destroyed homes and livelihoods, leaving entire communities in ruins.

In the aftermath of these disasters, it was clear that something needed to be done to prevent future catastrophes. The Orange County Fire Watch was created to provide around-the-clock protection against wildfires. This dedicated team of firefighters works day and night to keep our region safe.

The Orange County Fire Watch is made up of volunteers from all walks of life. Some are professional firefighters who have dedicated their lives to protecting others, while others are simply concerned citizens who want to make a difference. Regardless of their backgrounds, each member of the OCFW is committed to keeping our community safe from harm.

The OCFW’s primary goal is to prevent wildfires before they start. To achieve this, they maintain a constant watch over the county’s many fire-prone areas. They also work closely with local residents and businesses to create defensible space

Become A Firewatch Volunteer

Volunteering for Firewatch Orange County is a great way to give back to your community and help protect your fellow residents. As a volunteer, you will be trained in fire safety and prevention and will help patrol the county during high fire danger periods. You will also be able to provide education to the public about fire safety, and help out at community events.

Benefits of Becoming a Volunteer

There are many benefits to becoming a volunteer firefighter. In addition to the satisfaction of helping others, volunteers often enjoy increased fitness levels, camaraderie, and a sense of purpose.

Being a firefighter is a physically demanding job. Volunteers must be in good physical condition to perform their duties. Firefighters often work long hours and are on call 24 hours a day. This can lead to increased levels of fitness and overall better health.

The camaraderie among firefighters is unique. They form strong bonds with each other and develop deep friendships. This sense of community can be beneficial in both personal and professional life.

Finally, firefighters have a sense of purpose. They know that they are making a difference in their community and that their efforts could one day save someone’s life. This can be a great source of motivation and pride.

The Process to Become a Volunteer

If you’re interested in becoming a Volunteer Firefighter with the Orange County Fire Authority, there are a few things you need to do. The first step is to attend an orientation. During this session, you will learn more about the program and what is expected of volunteers. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

After attending the orientation, the next step is to complete a written application and pass a physical agility test. Once you have done that, you will be scheduled for an interview. If you are offered a position, you will be required to complete a background check and drug test.

Once all of that is complete, you will be ready to start your training! You will first go through an online training program, followed by live fire training at one of our academies. After successfully completing both programs, you will be ready to serve your community as a Volunteer Firefighter!
