No Apple Watch version is waterproof — however, they are all water-resistant, which is slightly different. If you own an Apple Watch 2, 3, 4, or 5, you can submerge it up to 50 feet beneath the surface without it suffering any harm. A Series 1 watch should not be submerged, however, it is okay to wear in the rain. Although Apple advises using the Water Lock app before submerging your Watch in water, each Apple Watch still comes with it. In order to learn more about it, read the article below.

What is water resistance?

Friction is a type of force that is used to slow down items moving through water. It is known as water resistance. Drag is a common name for it. Water resistance can occur to items travelling through any kind of fluid; it is not only limited to water. Water resistance is created by the components of the fluid or water.

How to tell if the Apple Watch is water-resistant?

The best way to tell if your watch is water-resistant is to read the Apple Watch box. If the box says “WATER RESISTANT” in big letters, you’re all set. But if your box doesn’t say anything, you could assume that it’s water-resistant as long as your watch has the following markings on the back:

If your watch doesn’t have the first two markings and it doesn’t have the word WATER RESISTANT, it’s not water-resistant.

Why is the Apple Watch not fully waterproof?

All Apple Watch versions, according to Apple, are water-resistant. The answer is none if you’re asking which Apple Watches are waterproof. But how do a waterproof watch and a water-resistant watch differ from one another? Impervious to water is the definition of waterproof. Water resistance, on the other hand, is the capacity to partially withstand water penetration.

Although Apple Watch Series 1 and Apple Watch (1st generation) are splash and water-resistant, it is not advised to submerge either device. You can wear an Apple Watch Series 2 or newer Apple Watch device when swimming in shallow water, such as in a pool or the ocean.

How to Activate a Water Lock?

The Apple Watch 2, 3, 4, and 5 all have the Water Lock feature, which locks the screen to prevent unintentional tapping while swimming or engaging in other water-based activities. If you’re going to immerse your Watch in any way, it also cleans out the speakers after you’re done.

There are two methods to turn on this function:

1. Commence your swimming workout. Workouts including swimming in a pool or open water will both instantly activate the Water Lock feature. Open the Workout app, then select Pool Swim or Open Water Swim to get started.

2. Manually turn on Water Lock by pressing the water droplet icon by swiping up from the Watch face. When the Water Lock feature is activated, a blue water droplet will appear in the centre of the Watch face.

How can water be removed from an Apple phone?

To use the Water Eject shortcut, open the My Shortcuts page in the Shortcuts app and tap it at the top. There will be a menu with the following choices: Begin: You’ll feel a vibration, hear a chirping sound, and receive a message that the water has been expelled once the tone has played for 15 seconds.
